The third model in the Renault SUV range is the Koleos, and it's the largest car in the line-up, slotting in above the Kadjar and Captur. It's only slightly bigger than the Kadjar, as it uses the same platform, while the extra space is used to create more rear passenger room, although unlike some rivals, there's no seven-seat option on sale. Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen featuring sat-nav and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, an opening panoramic sunroof and inch alloy wheels. On top of that, Signature cars get an upgraded 8. The Initiale Paris features a host of luxury kit, including inch wheels, two-tone nappa leather and a Bose stereo.

Renault Koleos review
The Renault Koleos is a crossover, both in where it can be driven - as well as where it is built. It is a French design using a drivetrain sourced from Nissan in Japan but is built in South Korea at the Renault-Samsung manufacturing plant. Launched in Australia in September it followed the increasingly common feature of being offered in 2WD front wheels or 4WD. The Koleos ' rear tailgate has a clever 'clamshell' design allowing many options for access and load-carrying. You can fold the front passenger seat back to permit loads up to 2.
More or less based on previous-generation Nissan X-TRAIL underpinnings, the Koleos' innards are old, the infotainment system feels clunky and the drive is not as finessed as its rivals. Take the peculiar snout and stylised rear-end for instance. But dig a little deeper and this is one of the most un-French cars Renault makes. It's based on Japanese [Nissan] underpinnings and is built in South Korea… but for some buyers that may not be such a bad thing. Indeed, the Koleos fulfils its function as a high-riding mode of transport adequately.
